COSMETIC TATTOO ELIGIBILITY CHECK
Cosmetic Tattoos are awesome procedures and something we are very passionate about at MINK! But before you book your appointment, please make sure you read ALL questions below to ensure you are a suitable candidate. We would hate for you to make an appointment, be all excited and have to be turned away on the day. This would make both of us very sad and disappointed. If there is any other questions not listed below please do not hesitate to contact us on 0422338884 and we will get back to you asap.

WHO WOULD BENEFIT FROM COSMETIC TATTOOS?

Clients who:
Apply brow pencil/brow powder daily.
Suffer from Alopecia or other hair loss problems.
Want more confidence and want to enjoy a no-fuss beauty routine.
Clients about to undergo Chemo and will lose brow hair.

DO YOU TATTOO THOSE UNDER THE AGE OF 18?
We are happy to perform Brow Tattoo's for those aged 16+. Our personal policy is that we require 1 form of formal identification such as a passport, and for a parent or guardian - also with identification - to be there throughout the process.

ARE YOU A REGISTERED SKIN PENETRATION CLINIC?
Yes, MINK Beauty Bar is a registered skin penetration clinic and we follow very strict hygiene and safety protocols.

CAN I HAVE THE PROCEDURE WHILST PREGNANT?
Sorry but we do not tattoo anyone whilst pregnant - this is due to anaesthetics used. We recommend waiting until after you have the baby. If you are breastfeeding - we recommend expressing for 48 hours or waiting until you have finished feeding.

CONSULTATIONS
The first part of the process is a consultation. This is normally done as part of your initial treatment, but can be done separately if you prefer. Separate consultation fee is $50, this fee is fully redeemable against the price of your tattoo if you decide to proceed. You will fill out a medical history form, then your Brow Artist will talk with you in great detail about the look you are trying to achieve and what we might recommend to you. This is very much a two-way conversation. We listen, we respond, we advise. Once we have an idea of the look you are aiming for, we draw the brows on with a makeup pencil. These can be drawn on and adjusted 50 times if necessary! We will never begin the tattoo process until you are completely happy with what they are going to look like.

WHAT IS INVOLVED IN PROCEDURE?
The initial procedure/appointment takes 1.5 - 3 hrs approx dependent on what Cosmetic Tattoo method you choose. We mark out the shape on you, taking your facial features and shape into account. We then choose a colour which suits your skintone and features.

If you suffer from OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder), Brow Tattoos may not be the best treatment for you as your eyebrows will NEVER be 100% identical. It is impossible to create 100% identical brows especially with Feather Touch Brow method as we are replicating tiny hairstrokes. Our faces are NOT symmetrical, and our eyebrows are supposed to be sisters not twins, however as Brow Artists, we aim to create as much symmetry as possible.

The area is marked with a surgical pen, then the semi-permanent pigment is applied with a hand-held tool or a machine dependent on what method you have chosen. The pigment is placed into the upper layers of the dermis.

WHAT ARE THE PIGMENTS?
The pigments used have an Iron Oxide base, a safe non-reactive substance. The cosmetic pigments are specifically manufactured for implantation into human skin. We have a large selection of colours ranging from super light to super dark, colours can also be mixed to find the perfect colour for you. We use colours imported from reputable manufacturers in the US and all have been tested by authorities and have been in use for over 20 years. Product ingredients are listed on our bottles.

The end result will depend on 50% pigment colour you choose and 50% healing. Obviously if you choose a lighter colour they are going to heal even lighter. Everyone's skin is COMPLETELY different and we all heal very differently. Some people hold pigment much better than others, so you will get different degrees of fading. You may have one brow that heals perfect and the other that heals patchy. Even though we do the EXACT same procedure on each and every individual, the results vary, and NO GUARANTEES can be made on how much pigment you will hold.

Colours will appear darker and more sharply defined immediately following the procedure, colours will lighten and soften in 7 – 10 days by approx. 10%. Most tattoo’s will have a flake off or clients will lose some of their colour in this time, this is entirely normal. We find that approx. 80% of clients need a Perfection Visit (touch up) 4-6 weeks after initial tattooing – this is to correct any healing issues that may have occurred and to also add dimension to the brow. This is why we ALWAYS advise you to book in a Perfection Visit to correct any healing issues that may occur. It is best to book in the Perfection Visit and if you find your brows heal amazing, you can always cancel the appointment (as long as you give us at least 72 hours notice).

PERFECTION VISIT
We must wait a full 4-6 weeks before the Perfection Visit is performed to allow the ink to fully settle into the skin. We highly recommend booking in your Perfection Visit at the time of booking in your first appt as we book up weeks in advance. Your first Perfection Touch Up is $99-$149.

It is RARE for a third visit to be required. However, if the optimum result is not achieved a 3rd visit may be required. There is no fee for a third visit, but you MUST contact us within 3 weeks since your last treatment and it MUST be completed within 6 weeks since the last treatment. Out of the 6-week period it is strictly normal Touch Up prices. FREE Touch Ups are for HEALING ISSUES ONLY, IF YOU ARE WANTING TO SIMPLY CHANGE THE COLOUR IT IS A $99 FEE.

COLOUR BOOST (TOUCH UP)
The procedures are semi-permanent, so will begin to noticeably fade after 9-12 months. Your Tattoo will need to be maintained (Touch Ups). Maintenance varies from person to person; some clients may need more visits than others and also what method of tattoo you choose. Fading can be due to various reasons i.e. fast metabolisms, oilier skin, lifestyle factors etc. The majority of our clients have their brow tattoos touched up every 9-12 months.
COLOUR BOOST/TOUCH UP PRICES (STRICTLY FROM DATE OF LAST TREATMENT)
Please check each procedure individually for Touch Up prices. Our Touch Up prices are for our existing Brow Tattoo clients only. If this is your first time as a Brow Tattoo client at BEAUTOPIA, you will be full price.

CAN I CHANGE FROM FEATHER TOUCH BROWS TO POWDER/OMBRE OR COMBINATION METHOD?
Yes you certainly can! If you have previously had your brows tattooed at MINK before, it is just an extra $100 on top of your Touch Up price. (Please check individual method for Touch Up prices).

DO I NEED TO PLAN FOR MY TREATMENT?
Most clients go right back to work after the procedure, however some clients prefer to plan 2 days off or at a weekend to get used to the finished result.

Australia is a very hot country and the sun will fade tattoos. Sun bathing whilst your tattooed area is healing will dramatically fade the tattoo, even if you wear a sunhat. That is not to say you can't sit in the sun at all, it does however mean that sunbathing whilst healing is not wise. Sunscreen (Factor 50) on your brows after the healing phase is over is also recommend every day which will make your brow tattoos last so much longer.

Swimming in the ocean or a chlorine filled pool is unwise during the healing phase, as Chlorine will bleach the healing brow, and the salt in the ocean will pull out the pigment. Please be aware of this when scheduling your tattoo.
WILL I BE ABLE TO GO OUT IN PUBLIC STRAIGHT AFTER PROCEDURE?
After the procedure, the area treated will be darker and more intense, this is normal. This will last a few days until the skin heals and naturally exfoliates and the true colour emerges. The brows will look very sharp, however once healed they are much softer looking. The brows may also appear thicker than you might like, however, this settles after 7-10 days, as swelling recedes the brows will shorten slightly as a result. Swelling/oedema with brows is very minimal; however it must be mentioned that some swelling may happen. Swelling with lips is very normal.

IS THERE ANYTHING I NEED TO BE AWARE OF AFTER THE TATTOO?
For brows it is extremely important you do not get water on them for 7 days (includes sweat and steam). You cannot swim in the ocean or pool for 14 days as salt water/chlorine draws out the pigment.
With all procedures you need to wear a cream (which we provide) for 7-10 days.
We do provide you with an Aftercare Sheet that explains everything in great detail, we also explain this to you verbally at the end of your appointment.

DOES IT HURT?
Most clients feel little to nothing at all (with brows), however everyone's pain level is different. Topical cream is applied 15-30 min prior to procedure, and a liquid topical anaesthetic is applied during the procedure. Some clients naturally feel more pain at times of menstruation. If you are extremely sensitive to pain you can also speak to your Doctor/ Pharmacist beforehand and ask them to advise you for pain relief.
FASHION SHAPES
Eyebrow shapes that do not suit a client’s facial structure or pigment colour that does not suit the tones of the client will not be entertained irrespective to client pressure. We create bespoke brows that are designed especially for YOUR face and features, please do not bring "brow stencils" to your appointment as we will not use these under any circumstances.

I HAD MY BROWS DONE ELSEWHERE AND I AM UNHAPPY, CAN YOU CORRECT THEM?
We never say we can 'correct' anyone else’s work. If we say that we are proclaiming to correct and make perfect a bad brow. We will however consult with you and decide between us which is the best way to IMPROVE your brow tattoos and if we can help you, we will do our very best. We have improved many a bad job but please remember that your old tattoos cannot be completely disguised nor, will they be 100% perfect. If you want your old tattoos completely gone and a perfect Brow Tattoo I recommend having your old tattoos removed first or waiting until they fade completely. Please note: If your tattoos are extremely bad (as in horrendous shape) we will not touch your brows. We take each case on an individual basis, please send pictures of your brows in daylight (front on and side) to beautopia.bar@gmail.com and we will get back to you asap.

Due to the popularity of Feathering/Microblading there has been a huge rise in the amount of Brow Artists having only undergone a one-day course. This is the reason why we get asked almost daily to correct another person's work. We do understand that everyone has to start somewhere but please ensure that you do extensive research before selecting your Brow Artist. If they have recently qualified, you must be aware that you cannot expect absolute perfection.
If you pay cheap for your tattoo, you cannot expect to have perfect results.
Please remember that a cheaper tattoo does not necessarily mean value for money. You get what you pay for and your brows are on your face 24/7! I have seen many a tattoo that has been done abroad and the majority of them in Bali/Asian countries use normal tattoo ink which can mean the brows turning a blue/green colour or even sometimes purple and this colour lasts FOREVER! It does not fade like cosmetic ink.

I AM ABOUT TO UNDERGO CHEMOTHERAPY; CAN I HAVE MY TATTOOING BEFORE MY TREATMENT?
Ideally yes! It would be great to do your brows before you lose your hair, however; we do work with many cancer patients/alopecia sufferers etc who have no hair altogether. If you are currently undergoing chemotherapy, we would need a letter from your Oncologist with their approval. If you have your brows done before you start your chemo, it is usual in this instance to have your top up after the cancer treatment is complete, or sooner if your oncologist approves.
ARE YOU GETTING SURGERY AROUND THE TIME OF YOUR APPOINTMENT?
Minor surgical procedures - we would recommend having them at least 3 weeks before or after your treatment. Any other surgery that you need a general anaesthetic for, we would recommend waiting at least 4 weeks before your appointment. If you are unsure, please consult with your doctor before making your appointment.

CLIENTS ON ANTICOAGULANTS/WARFARIN/ASPIRIN ETC
Clients who are on these medications must check with their doctor if it is ok to go ahead. It is usual for the client not to take such medications that morning but can be delayed to the evening time the day of the procedure. It is in my experience that clients on Aspirin/Warfarin that the result can take up to 3/4 visits to achieve the optimum result. This is because the pigment may not sit very well into the hairstroke made, due to blood flow, and its thinness. The clients on these medications must be aware, that whilst the best efforts are made, it may necessitate a few extra visits to get the desired look.

DO YOU TAKE FISH OIL OR IBUPROFEN REGULARLY?
Fish oils and Ibuprofen thins the blood which causes the wound to reject pigment therefore often results in poor tattoo retention. If you are taking them for a boost please discontinue use for a MINIMUM of 7 days prior to your procedure, preferably longer. If you have been advised to take them for medical reasons, please consult with your medical practitioner. Never stop medication without your practitioners advice. This may mean you will need an additional Perfection Visit to achieve optimal results.

DO YOU GET WRINKLE RELAXERS OR FILLERS?
Please ensure you have your Botox/Dysport/Fillers etc at least 2 weeks before or 2 weeks after your Brow Tattoo appointment.

HAVE YOU HAD ANY PREVIOUS ISSUES WITH TOPICAL ANAESTHETICS?
We use a combination of topical anaesthetics. First we use a pre-numbing cream, then a liquid/gel which contains an adrenaline. Please discuss any issues you may have BEFORE booking your appointment.

ARE YOU ON ANY MEDICATION, DO YOU TAKE ROACCUTANE?
All medications come into play with the skin. This means that if you are on daily medication you will most certainly need a Perfection Visit.
If you take Roaccutane, Retina, AHA, Glycolic, Doxycyclineskin, and some other medications, you will need to wait 6 - 12 months from your last tablet before getting a cosmetic tattoo, when it comes to your appointment, we will need a doctors note to ensure you are ready to go ahead with the treatment.

ARE YOU DIABETIC?
Diabetics and those with autoimmune disorders may manifest poor wound healing. For diabetics this is especially true if their blood sugar is poorly controlled. With Diabetics, we do ask them to consult their doctor before their appointment to ensure they are a suitable candidate for cosmetic tattooing.

Lateness - Please do not be late for your appointment. If you are more than 5-10 mins late for your appointment your tattoos will not be done that day and your deposit will be forfeited - no exceptions!
